Books

Books have always been part of our lives, when we were kids our parents almost bought us every books we wanted ! We had fun sharing stories, borrowing books and then classify them in our bookcases. Seriously, it gives me chills to think about that period of life... Discovering words, characters, authors...
- and even the books' smell - truly are some comforting pleasures !
I hope you guys like books as well and that you would advice us your favorites :)

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”
Charles William Eliot

Here are some random books that we liked :

  • Shoichi Aoki has pictured the best Japanese street-style for more than 15 years in a various number of magazines and photo-books. His books are wonderful, you can only admire the amount of work and incredible documenting (FRUiTS & Fresh FRUiTS are like the mecca for subculture fashion, traditional wear and DIY). Sooo inspiring ! Taschen Books
  • Also from Taschen Books, this 70's Fashion photo art book by Jimi Heimann and Laura Schooling. It's full of vintage ads and magazines sheets. Taschen Books has the most exquisite choice, there's a fashion collection, a movie icon collection (my Audrey Hepburn comes from this one !),and so on. Every pictures chosen are brilliant.
  • How Reading Changed My Life by Anna Quindlen is the perfect read for anyone who loves books, who hates books, who has hard times keeping an eye on the book... Honestly I think this is one of the best books of all times and galaxy ! Ballantine Books
  • If you're looking for anything about fashion, check out this A to Z guide covering years of fashion design, icons, photographers, models and more ! The Fashion Book is a must-have on every bookshelf + 512 pages of vital information ;) Phaidon Press
  • Thing Of Beauty by Stephen Fried is a beautiful biography of supermodel Gia Carangi but also an inside-view of the fashion industry and the late 70's. Pocket Books
  • Of course, this TeNeues Books is expensive but it features such a huge source of materials from fashion photographer and fairy tales magician Tim Walker ! It would be a shame to miss the opportunity to browse it in your public library ;)
