Culture Pie #1

Okay, so it's not the most recent documentary since it came out in 2010, but Bill Cunningham New York by Richard Press has a really special place in our hearts. It follows photographer Bill Cunningham who has been working at The New York Times for decades. If you love fashion photography or just streetstyle in general, we're sure you'll love it. Bill kinda is the Father of streetstyle, sharing his passion for clothes and accessories with the world through his genius photography. What we love about this documentary is that you can really see his love for his work (which really doesn't seem like work to him, but more fun), how he tries to show what the street's wearing and how people take inspiration from catwalks to bring it alive on the streets. We also loved that we are able to know more about Bill who's a super private and humble guy that definitely made us cry :') It's exactly the kind of fashion film we want to watch more...

Our favourite quote of the movie :
"Don't take the money. If you don't take the money, they can't tell you what to do.
Money is cheap. Freedom is the most expensive thing".

If you watched it, we're interested to know your point of view about it !
Here's a short video which really shows his love and dedication to fashion ❤

❤❤❤

We've talked about this exhibition before when it was presented at the Victoria&Albert Museum in London,
and now it's closed ! If you had the chance to visit, what did you think ? We hope you enjoyed to the fullest because
we believe it's the experience of a lifetime. Happily, the "David Bowie is" exhibition
just got confirmed for international touring ! OMG !!!

Here are the venues :
  • Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada from 25 September to 27 November 2013
  • Museum of Image and Sound, Sao Paulo, Brazil from 28 January to 21 April 2014
  • Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, USA from September 2014 to January 2015
  • Philharmonie de Paris/ Cité de la Musique, Paris, France from 2 March to 31 May 2015
  • Groninger Museum, Groningen, The Netherlands from 15 December 2015 to 15 March 2016

If you've seen it, you'll understand how big this is, because you really enter Bowie's unique world,
with more than 300 objects and fashion pieces. You get earphones when you start the tour and the
music/comment automatically changes when you walk around the area of Bowie's life. If you stay long enough,
you'll be able to watch and actually BE at a Bowie concert. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
But seriously, the clothes. The most amazing androgynous way to dress, and we bet you'll love it :)
They're showing his best show outfits, such as the Alexander McQueen Union Jack, the Arlequin, the Ziggy Stardust tour suits and so on ! Ok, the price ticket was a bit expensive at the V&A, but seeing this exhibit has value. Priceless value...
And it's not easy to create such a masterpiece in a museum. We have no doubt the tickets will sell like crazy for the other venues and we hope you'll have the chance to soak into the Bowie magic :)

❤❤❤

Beauty girls, where you at ? Okay, this book costs 370$ but that's what we can call an investment.
They start to sell it this week in France, in shops such as Colette or Galignani and there are only 5000 copies,
so if you're a beauty freak, we suggest to start your quest now !
Philocalie (the love of beauty, in greek) is a 156 pages by Loréal and published by Les Editions De L'Embellissement.
It aims to analyze beauty in this world and features glamourous insiders such as Olympia Le-Tan or Sonia Rykiel.
PS : we absolutely love the cover !
